Our Grizzly softball team opened up Western Athletic Conference play this Monday March 25, 2019. This is our first season as a part of the WAC, and our softball team’s strong history has placed them within the San Joaquin League, the toughest league within the WAC. Our first league came resulted in a victory Monday at home vs Southlands Christian, final score 15-4.
Raylene Roybal had a dominant performance on the mound with 13 strikeouts! It continued at the plate with her going 5 for 5, including a single, 3 doubles, and a triple. Isabelle Alvarez was seeing the ball great Monday, getting on base every at bat with 4 walks and a double. The Grizzlies first game as a part of the Western Athletic Conference was an all-around good showing!
The very next day, our Lady Grizzles got the win at home vs Saddleback Valley Christian, final score 18-2.
Nathalie Sanchez got on base 4 times with a triple, 2 walks, and a hit by pitch. Senior, Raylene Roybal stayed hot at the plate with a 3 run home run in the first inning. Roybal finished the day with 2 home runs, a double, a walk, and 5 RBI’s. Sophomore Hannah Masterson also got in on the attack at the plate with 2 singles and a double.
Next up, our Lady Grizzlies hope to keep the momentum going against Calvary Chapel Santa Ana in a non-league contest on Tuesday April 2nd @ 3:00pm at Columbus School.
